Forest School

Being only yards away from Scholars Copse, our pupils enjoy access to a Forest School site on their doorstep. The area offers an exceptional space for the children to play and learn.  In October 2016, we became a Gold ‘Green Tree’ school; an award given by the Woodland Trust.  The award recognises the value we place on the outdoor environment as a key element of our children’s learning experiences.

Forest Schools Presentation - June 2017

Forest School is an inspirational process that offers pupils regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a woodland or natural environment with trees. It is a specialised learning approach that sits within and compliments the wider context of outdoor and woodland education.

Young people are stimulated by the outdoors and typically experience, over time, an increase in their self-belief, confidence, learning capacity, enthusiasm, communication and problem-solving skills and emotional well-being. Pupils particularly enjoy the mud kitchen and we’re so pleased to be able to offer this outstanding provision.       Sharon Clark, Head of BSCS Primary Phase
